R. McElrath 1-hit shutout, Fresiello wins it with walk off single
Game 1 of the semi finals was a pitching duel between Jordan Robles and Ryan McElrath. McElrath would only allow 1 hit through 5 innings. Robles only allowed 2 hits through 4 innings. In the bottom of the 5th Tim McElrath would lead off with a triple and with 1 out Phil Fresiello would single to give the Giants a 1-0 game 1 win.
K-Von Homers in 1st, Shuts Down Giants to Even Up Series
After dropping the first game on a tough walk-off defeat, the Padres called on Kyle VonSchleusingen to pitch the second game of the series and look to push for a Game 3. After retiring the Giants in the top of the 1st inning, K-Von would lead off the game and launch a solo home run into the left field seats for an early 1-0 Padres lead. That would be all the run support VonSchleusingen would need, holding the Giants scoreless the rest of the way while allowing only 1 hit and striking out 13 in a masterful pitching performance. The Padres earned the W by the final score of 1-0.
R. McElrath tosses second shut out of series, sends Giants to the Finals
In game 3, The Giants went with their ace R. McElrath for a 3rd time and the Padres sent out K-Von coming off of a game 2 win. In the bottom of the 1st K-Von walked the lead off man and with 1 out Phil Fresiello smashed a 2 run shot to left field. K-Von was removed and Robles would take over for the Padres. Ryan would help his cause with a solo home run in the 2nd. Dave Fisher would follow up in the 3rd smashing a solo shot of his own giving the Giants a 4-0 lead. That was all McElrath would need, retiring the Padres the rest of the way and securing a championship appearance for the Giants.
