In an odd turn of events four of Sunday's games were cancelled by Commissioner Bevelacqua due to rain. I don't know what has happened to us but it seems the Palisades is getting soft. I will tell you I hope this never happens again in my career. We must make wiffle ball great again!! With that being said here is the amazing Mariners recap....
Game 1- John Istorico v.s Kenny Stengel!!! Two of the best pitchers in the league facing off in my opinion. Istorico and Stengel would have some control issues. Stengel would allowed 3 runs mainly due to walks. Istorico would settle down after getting a key tailor made double play in the second inning (bases loaded 1 out). From that inning on he seemed to settle down by throwing the exact same pitch the rest of the game. Practically begging the Diamondbacks to swing. When your chucking 102 mph it can be tough to hit no matter what the pitch is. The Mariners offense has been none existent this year unfortunately. Lucky for the Mariners Chris Criscuolo showed up and provided the only hit of the game. Scratch that Matt Fliesser would fuck up Istorico's no hit with an unforced error!!!
Mariners get a much needed game one win game 3-0
Mariners outlast Expos on total bases
In game two the struggling Mariners went head to head with the Expos. Both teams coming off a win in their first game against the D-Backs. Matt Fliesser took the mound for the Mariners, while Didio toed the rubber for the Expos. It was a cool rainy day where it seemed like no balls were being hit hard anywhere. The Mariners John Istorico collected two singles and Chris Criscuolo took a ball to the face to get the go ahead base late in the 6th. Matt Fliesser got his first win of the year while throwing another gem. The Mariners are fighting tooth and nail to get back to .500 as they now sit at 3-5
